Beijing Underpass – The Longest Underpass Of Lahore

Traffic is now a part and parcel of our lives. We all are now used to getting stuck in traffic whenever we go out of our house. The path that is of 15 minutes stretches up to one hour most of the time. To curb this issue, many projects have been done to make roads signal free.

One of the most discussed project by the Government of Punjab is “Beijing Underpass” connecting Mughalpura to Dharampura.

“Beijing Underpass” has been completed within a time span of 125 days and it is inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Mian Shehbaz Sharif.

The newly built underpass is the longest underpass of Lahore with a length of 1.3 kilometers. The height of the underpass is 5.1 meters which is suitable for all type of vehicles to pass through.

Formerly known as “Chaubacha Underpass” it is one of the most important underpasses of Lahore. The underpass was renamed as “Beijing Underpass”  in order to appreciate and commemorate the contribution of China in the development of Pakistan.

According to the Government of Punjab, 175,000 vehicles will benefit from the underpass and it will also help in saving a huge amount of fuel as the canal road has now become signal free from Thokar Niaz Baig to Harbanspura.

The social media is also buzzing with this newly inaugurated underpass.
